A New Year to be Thankful

Two weeks ago, I traded in my beloved F-150 for something new which, like most new vehicles, cost more money than four shiny wheels and a motor ever should.

But I’m a business owner, it’s tax season and I needed the write-off.

Last Friday night I, my wife and “Something New” went to an event where, in the parking lot, the inevitable happened.

Some kid dinged “Something New’s” door.

Less than 200 miles on the odometer, and I was pissed.

Then Saturday morning rolls around and I’m in the gym and I’m STILL pissed!! My morning is ruined.

And then I looked at the sunrise and it hit me…

Do you know how many people would love to have “Something New,” even with a ding in the door?

Do you know how many people would love to have the need for a tax write-off?

Do you know how fortunate you are to have the privilege of being pissed about something so incredibly trivial and stupid?

A good friend of mine just lost his wife to cancer.

Cancer or a ding in the door, your call!

For whatever reason I’m still not sure, God graced me with many things – health, a great wife, two great kids, a successful business, a joyful father-in-law and brother who I enjoy spending time with, a nice house in a safe neighborhood, friends, a life in the United States where I can freely bitch about Trump and Pelosi!

It’s certainly more than I ever deserved to be blessed with.

Thus, my only New Years resolution is this; to be thankful to God for all he has given me – every day. And to do something everyday to pay my fortune forward to someone else who needs it a bit more.

We’ve all got a lot to be thankful for… We’ve all got a little extra to give!

I wish you all a very Happy New Year and much success in 2020.

Make it your best year ever!
